Draydur Bull Terriers in North Staffordshire
If you have never had the plesure of owning one of these special dogs, here at Draydur bull Terriers we are interested to find out what makes people decide on a certain breed. My wife and i had wanted a dog from the moment we moved in to our marital home. As we love all animals we needed a pet, my wife did not mind which breed we had but i had always wanted a Bull Terrier, boxer or a staff. The reason for this was the fact that i had fond memories of meeting one of each on my paper rounds from when i was 13 years old. The reason i chose a Bull Terrier was the size. A Bull Terrier was in-between the other two. Looking back now i believe i made one of the best decisions of my life as life with a Bull Terrier is second to none (in my opinion) and as long as i live i will never have a different breed. I am still very fond of Boxers, Staffs, Bullmastiffs and Bulldogs to mention but a few, but my wife’s and my heart will always belong to this special breed. I have always loved Bull terriers also and having owned two previously there was no hesitation on my part to ‘adopt’ a rescue miniature bull terrier when the opportunity arose about a year ago. Bob is now three years old but had inherited the bad gene of being deaf and suffering from a horrible skin condition. Having been to various vets and being given steroids and antibiotics I was disappointed when he started developing bald patches on top of everything else. Any way to cut a long story short I contacted Draydur through an Internet search and they were so helpful and knowledgeable and gave me good advice about his problems, even though he is not one of their puppies. He is suffering from Demodectic Mange, as Draydur, correctly, advised me which develops when the steroids lowering his immune system so we are now altering his treatment to hopefully improve his prognosis. Thanks Draydur keep up the good work!

Thanks Maggi for your kind words.
We have owned Bull Terriers for over fifteen years and until two years ago, we had never heard of Demodetic Mange. Some vets will just see a Bull Terrier with a skin condition and bang them on steroids, this will only hide the underlying problem. We had a bad case with a puppy over two years ago now. Our Vet who is v.good with Bullies took a skin scraping and there it was? We believe a lot of Bull Terriers with skin conditions could be affected with Demodectic mange in a mild format. Please note this is only our personel opinion, and not necessarily fact.

I was always brought up with german shepherds, right from being born my parents had 2 shepherds and so it went that just after my 18th birthday i too bought my own shepherd Holly. I was always interested in bull terriers since being knocked down in the middle of a field by a rather dozy looking white boulder of a dog!!! His name was Mac and he had slipped his collar, his poor owner running up the field shouting he won’t hurt you he’s just a baby!!! I never thought he was going to hurt me, maybe drown me in slaver. From then on we used to meet up once a week and take our dogs for a walk, it was then that i fell in love with the breed. Many years later after researching the breed and got in touch with breeders in my area and was put on a waiting list. Then in 2007 we got Boyd Justak dancing dekah who is the daftess dog i have ever owned. Holly died in febuary 2009 at 12 1/2 years old and Boyd was so distressed she was all he had ever known. He started to destroy furniture and became withdrawn. I wanted to get another bully but was thinking in about another year or so. I thought Boyd needed the company so i got in touch with friends again and put out the feelers and 7 wks ago we brought Dekah home, and Boyd is back to normal
If all goes well with Dekah i am going to show her which i have never done before so should be fun!! Both my dogs are from health tested parents which is so important for healthy puppies and i think should be made compulsory for everyone if they want to breed their dogs.
